Duo Inventione
Duo
Inventione is an ensemble based in Belgium, founded by two
Japanese musicians, baroque violinist Marie Toriu and harpsichordist Asami
Sakimoto in 2017. The duo focuses on the works for violin and harpsichord in
the 18th century, especially the works by J. S. Bach and C. P. E. Bach, based
on the historical context with rhetorical interpretation.
While exploring the
repertoire of the sonatas for violin and obbligato harpsichord which developed
in France and Germany from 1720, they redefine the works for violin and basso
continuo as a duo-ensemble and pursue the fine and intimate ensemble playing. Since they met at the Royal Conservatoire of
Brussels (Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel), they have been performed together
and participated in masterclasses, guided by Ryo Terakado, Kris Verhelst,
François Fernandez, and Bart Naessens.
Duo Inventione gave their first recital at the
House of Polyphony in Leuven in 2017 and have been invited to several famous music
festivals and concert series in Belgium and the Netherlands such as Utrecht
Early Music Festival, Mubafa Festival in Famenne Ardenne, Erasmusica Midday Concert Series at the
Erasmus House in Brussels. In 2019, they did their recitals in Tokyo (Japan) and Leuven (Belgium).
